Nancy Apple Shoulda Lied About That, 2003 "Lighthearted and twangy as heck, Nancy Apple (aka The Cadillac Cowgirl) presents a collection of good-natured country that's charming and fun. Like a timeless honky-tonk act whose true era seems intangible, yet anchored to the present here and there with contemporary pop flourishes, Apple and company lay down an honest and live sound. Nancy Apple Outside the Lines, 2001 "Beginning with the rockin' "Slide Me Some Sugar," Nancy and her band roll through 14 songs alternating between the soulful "Outside the Lines," rockabilly delights such as "Why'd You Get So Gone," "Bears in Them Woods, "Draw the Line" and "Truck Driver's Woman" and bluesgems "Small Town Blues" and "I'm Here to Collect.” For a little international flavor, there is aJapanesetitled song that is guaranteed to put a smile on your face. Nancy Apple High on the Hog, 1996 "A mix of rockabilly, twang, blues rock, pop and straight-ahead country makes for one strong album for the Memphis-based Apple. The songwriting and production are top notch throughout, maintaining a lively feel. Apple kicks it into gear with the title track, mixing themes of cars and cowboys in a bluesy, rollling number with in-your-face vocals. She continues the idea of a woman having fun on "Steppin' Out," spare sounding with the emphasis on the vocals. " -- Jeff Remz

Songs from the early 90's, originally intended for demos only, started showing up as bootlegs so Nancy had a few hundred dubbed and sold them at gigs. Most of the songs were re-recorded and released on Nancy’s High On The Hog CD, and even a couple made it to Outside The Lines. Tijuana Tapes also includes three tracks never re-recorded. There is something charming and innocent about these self-produced demos. It still sounds pretty darn good still today. Nancy plays drums and guitar on most of these tracks. Bootlegged one at a time just for you!

Blues woman SANDY CARROLL shines on her first collaboration with her Grammy Award winning husband and producer JIM GAINES. When the multitalented pair decided to make this record, the plan was to do something different. Instead, they are introducing audiences to a truly original new musical style — Delta Techno. Imagine if Sade went to Al Green's church with Bonnie Raitt, then the two headed over to Raifords near Beale Street that night to hand out with Little Feat. Those who "get it" will love it, and those who don't will love it too.

On this release, Ruffin’s talents as a front man and songwriter are showcased, but don’t toss this southern boy in the back of the truck with the current crop of singer/songwriters — this ain’t folk music, and it ain’t country either. Skeleton Key cracks open new horizons for Ruffin. Experimenting with tones, instruments and players, the result is as rockin’ as the Ramones, as thought-provoking as Steve Earle and as jangley as the Continental Drifters, without compromising Ruffin’s own style or falling into pastiche.
